I was asked about why I don't give my horses immunizations, here is a good example, and a few other reasons
- You would be amazed how many horses have allergic reactions to different shots
- we keep our horses away from other horses, they arn't around others, so there isn't much chance of anything spreading
- many shots like the strangles shot can be deadly if the horse has already had that disease, the antibodies the horse has already produced don't get along with the antibodies in the shot, a few horses have even died because of it
- we take care of our horses, in all our years of owning horses (knock on wood) none of our horses has been seriously ill due to a disease (other than an infection caused by a laceration)
- injections even if done by a vet or profesional can cause many many problems, like the video below
