- if you don't know exactly how the bit works, don't use it
- if you have to use something more than a snaffle or a curb bit or one of those two with a small variation (rollers, copper coated, french link snaffle) you have major holes in your training and need to go back and fix them
- each horse has a diffrent mouth if your horse isn't comfortable in one of these 1. have your horses teeth checked 2. make sure the bit fits correctly and works for your horses mouth, if you horse has a small mouth get a thinner mouth piece etc 3. your training may be lacking and you need to go back to basics 4. your horse may need a variation of that bit, or you may try a curb or snaffle or vice a versa if all fails just go bitless :)
- NEVER and i mean NEVER use tom thumbs enough said......
