Hey guys, just to let you know the big post on the DUH tour will be up this weekend, I am far to busy to write the whole thing up on school nights right now with finals tomorrow and again on Tuesday, so anyways this will be a relativly short post compared to what that one is going to look like also maybe another short post tonight, although my fingers may not turn off, and I might just keep typing, so anyways.....
Monday I was really tired, but like I told you guys then I had something to look forward to! So the horses have been home for almost a week now, and this year, just like every other year, Chuck whenever he comes home from my grandmas he thinks he is king and loses respect, normally it takes a few days for it to come back, but this time it only took one night, and me getting a little banged up, anyways my arm is black and blue and I have a bruise on my thigh and my ankle, although my ankle was more of him accidentaly stepping on me, so then the Tod came and trimmed the horses, and it was all fine and dandy, so as most of you know I am a firm believer in the method, and it involves a lot of backing, and Chuck acting the way he was acting, he didn't get led that night, he went backwards EVERYWHERE we went, unless we were doing ground work, after Tod was done trimming them I grabbed the lead from nick because he was holding Jack while I held Chuck for Tod to do, I had Jack's lead tucked into my arm pit, and started backing Chuck all the way back out to the gate to let them go, and Tod talked to Nick and asked him when did I become such a "horse trainer" he told him a little bit about how I had been working with the horses, and he seemed amused. So Tuesday and Wednesday I didn't do much with them because we had other things going on, but at least once a day I make an effort to go out and visit them and sometimes give them treats... Jack and Chuck are usually the first ones up, and it makes me feel good considering they are the only ones that really get worked on a regular basis, but they still come up just fine. If I am able to I go out in the mornings and pet them too, after school, I make sure they got the water tank filled up, it was really funny because today I made Jack bob for apples and he couldn't get it at all! So today was another really good day, I got out Chuck and groomed him and such, I can't do riding or ground work when an adult isn't around, so I waited till my mom got home and he was all shiny and pretty by then, so then I did ground work for 2 and 1/2 hours, now I know this sounds a little excessive, but by the time we were done Chuck barely had any sweat on him, just some on his chest and neck, this is because by nature he is kinda flighty, so I tried to do more desentizing with him, we are getting pretty good at lunging for respect stage 2 and were starting stage 3, we are also doing very well on backwards marching and yeilding the HQs. The new things that we did today are, half circle lunging except I was sitting on the back of a pickup, and then I also did it while standing, and then I worked on having him come up beside it, that way if I wanted to I could have mounted, so I let him stand like that, and rubbed him all over his back and butt, and our other new thing we learned is backwards leading, its kinda hard to describe, but I will take a video sometime before monday to show you guys, so anyways there is still lots to look forward too, and I have an anouncement that will be in another post tonight, but another anouncement that will be in this one is that Pearl is officialy sold, the girls who came to look at her a week or two ago (I can't remember) are actually comming to buy her, she is going to be picked up on June 7th, but im not really sad to see her go, but I am happy, not because shes leaving, but I know she is going to someone who has the time for her, Roni and I can't work with Chuck and Jack all the time and basicly start pearl from the beginning too.... I am going to try to get the girls facebook so I can keep updated on Pearls progress and update you guys too! Okay thats it for this post thanks for reading!
