Equestrian Pet Peeves

Alisha's list
  1. when people blame their horses
  2. when people use tie downs, harsh bits (in the wrong hands that is) martingles, draw reins and other gimiks
  3. when  people don't put on their tack right
  4. when people are ungratefull for the horse they have (related to number 1)
  5. when people get horses that they can't handle and ruin the horse
  6.  when people use a bit to control their horse because they can't handle them in a halter (you should be able to ride your horse easily in a halter, a bit us used for more refined ques
  7.  when people keep there horse in stalls for more than 1-4 hours a day
  8. when people think horses think like humans or dogs
  9. when people don't condition there horses by riding or lunging every single day and only ride them once a week and always ride them hard
  10. when people wear "riding boots" that are really fashion boots that wouldn't do a thing If you actually got stepped on and have fancy high heels
  11. When people don't ask about something they don't know, but they pretend they know
  12. loose back cinches (your horse can easily get a let caught, same for front girths
  13. using stud chains in the wrong way, stupid people a girl's horse died recently because she did this, if you want more info just let me know
Roni's list
  1. when people yank on their horses mouth
  2. when people are under the assumption that they are doing something right but their really not
  3.  When people do rollkur
  4. when people use tie downs
  5. when people neglect their horses.... stall care, lack of hoof care, grooming, skinny horses
  6. when people use blankets because they do no good in the end anyways

A few pet peeves I found online on other websites
  1. All hot horses(or)Stallions are crazy and can't be handled
  2. western riders ride fast and get dirty
  3. People who just don't know what they're talking about, in general, also annoy me. It's fine to not know something, but please don't pretend that you do.
  4. people who full board their horses and shouldn't own one if they can't care for it
  5. People who don't watch little kids around a barn, one of them's going to get hurt or worse someday!
  6. People who "borrow" things out of your tack box then don't put them back, then when you need it you can't find it.
  7. When people say that riding doesn't require skill
  8. When people ride and have a good day and take all the credit, not even caring about what their horses did for them
  9. When people think they have to get a new horse every year because they need an "upgrade" and their horse isn't expensive enough
  10. I hate it when people think they know EVERYTHING when they're like the worst riders or they beat their horse and stuff.
  11. I hate it when riders think they are the BEST rider just because they can jump. I mean come on, half the time they don't even know the basics of ground work for god sakes. sorry just had to say that.
  12. I also hate it when i'm like petting my pony or something and then i'm like to my friend can you watch my pony? and she goes "a horse is just a horse. they don't have feelings and they don't care if they're left alone."
  13. I'm thinking to myself, um horses HAVE feelings. why do you think they have personalities? They are ALL different in their own special way and it's just plane rude to call them "just a horse."
  14. I also hate it when I have my stuff on my shelf like grooming stuff or fly spray or peperments and without asking, they take my stuff and use it. i'm like you can at least ask
  15.   When people think that they can own a horse just because they've read about them, think that they're pretty, or their friend has one.
  16. -When people think that they have so much experience with horses and are an advanced rider, when in reality they've only ridden a few times.
  17. -The height thing annoys me too haha.
  18. and...
  19.
  20. -When people say that Western is so easy and English is so hard. Both have things that are easy about them, and things that are hard about them, and you shouldn't judge if you've never even ridden Western.
Most of those were off Yahoo
