Hey guys today was a busy day, so I woke up nice and early to make it to meet Kyle, he is supper nice and answered all of my original questions. After eating at McDonalds and talking for a little we headed a half mile out of town to start trimming. We trimmed 2 horses there was a big bay mare named Baily who is 13 years old, she very thick and fat, we started with her, she did really good on her front feet, but her she didn't like having her back feet messed with at all, she spooked, and accidently stepped on a dog, it was a little healer named Sydney. The second horse we did was a little paint mare who will be 2 years old in January and she did pretty good too. There was a little donkey who I didn't catch the name of, but he was a cutie, we didn't trim him tho. After that we stood around and talked for another hour, I had a good time, and learned a lot!! After that was over I came home and rode for a while, I took some videos, and they are about different riding methods, me and Chuck are now able to go bridleless/halterless
and trot around and do patterns with just a neck rope, there isn't much room so I couldn't canter him there, but that will come soon :) So there is videos 5 parts,
Part 1 is warming up in the round pen
Part 2 is showing you guys what I talked about yesterday with him being so responsive to the ques
Part 3 is showing he is also very responsive in just a halter too
Part 4 shows an amazing training tool, it makes it so its easier to not confuse the horse, this is one rein riding its a good tool because you can't confuse and frustraight your horse and if you constantly pull on the reins your horse will just turn in a circle and let you know your doing something wrong, in the video you can see that you can even neck rein with one rein riding! The second part of this video is starting with the neck rope, Chuck hasn't been ridden with just a neck rope for a little while so I did an about 5 min refresher course and then started again
Part 5 is riding in the neck rope, and troting around with just that and describe how one principle will work with all horses, it is how horses live their lives in herds.
After that I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up the pasture, after an hour of working by myself tj came out and helped me for another hour and then I came in and now im writing this for all you guys, It was an AWESOME day and I had a ton of fun, and learned a lot of new tihngs!
