Busy!
So I have been slacking on all of my blogs lately, life has been BUSY. It is senior year so I am always busy with that, I work every single weekend and do various other activities throughout the week. I take care of my animals when I get home and by the time I am done doing that it's dark now because of the time switch. I honestly haven't ridden in over a month. The last time I rode was at the show on October 8th which was fun, but I have been TOO busy. I had a failed hatch at the end of the October in the incubator. Only 1/36 eggs hatched and the one that did hatch died after a week of my babying it. Anyways like I said things have been busy, so I will try to post more often, but I offer no promises....

Update
Hey guys, so I am excited to announce to you that we have 12 chicks right now! 14 hatched and 16 pipped!! One that hatched was very weak and never made it out of the incubator, and one sadly died at 2 days old in the brooder and we had two eggs pip and die. Right now there is still one chick in the incubator. It hatched and seemed okay, but never got up and standing… so after a week me babying it, we are starting to make progress it can stand with some assistance which is better than a week ago when it couldn’t even move its leg at all! Up until two days ago I had to force feed the poor little guy. He wouldn’t eat on his own so I had to pry the poor things beak open and set food in his mouth and then he would sometimes eat it and sometimes spit it out. He still is force watered (to an extent) I dip his beak in the water and then he drinks it. I will try to upload pictures later.
So not if you guys care (or your bored) I have something a little more on the non animal side that's just me talking about life. I feel so bad for my little brother right now, because he forgot something (like young teens happen to do some times) my dad said some things that were really mean, like how my brother and I are ungrateful, how the only time I come over to visit or talk to him is if I want money or need something from him, how my little brother is apparently a failure and many more things which just hurt…. I feel more for my brother because he has lived with my dad for the past year so he is much closer than I am with him. I have always guarded myself from my dad after he re-married just because his wife is sometimes not the greatest person but I just delt with it and I tried to make an effort to see him and do things with him. I went kayaking with him multiple times this summer, I stop by his house and go in so I can say hi if I ever get over his way, I drop the kids off from time to time (they are open enrolled in our school district so they live a ways away and we drive them home) and say hi, I drive to go watch him play his dart tournaments and play darts with him (even when I was on crutches I did that), I go to the races with him from time to time, so it's not like I don’t make an effort to go do things. What made me really frustrated is when it was said that I only use him for money and when I need things. Ever since I have been able to drive he has only helped me pay for gas 3 times and one time he threw a huge hissy fit and stormed out of the house, I recently asked for a upgrade on my phone because my contract has been up for a couple weeks now and the phone I have now glitches and shuts off along with being very old and outdated. I never ask for anything else as far as money or gifts… I didn’t know what I wanted for my birthday so I never really asked for much. So he just gave me some cash, not that I am mad about it, but he gave me what he thought appropriate, I never asked him for money. The only thing I suggested was $50 so I could by an athletic pass so I could go to school sporting events. It's just been a kinda bum year… one of my friends that I used to be really close with seems to not really want to be around me this year…. Over the summer I had a lot of plans and times but we never really got to see each other because something else would come up and that made me sad, and now that school has started they are always doing other things… they don’t really reply to my messages anymore or when I am talking to them they start to go off and talk to other people and do other things and I feel ignored…. I just don’t know how much longer the “friendship” will last if things continue…. I will try my hardest but sometimes it’s just better to let people go, it may feel like a small loss at time but sometimes (this coming from experience) that's the thing that truly lets you be the best version of you and it sets you free….

Losses and Gains
Hey guys so this is senior year and it started off great and then it divebombed. I will spare some details, but long story short is one of our dogs attacked the ehiickens. He severly maimed two beyone hope of recovery, one had its neck ripped to shreads so I had to put her down myself. I searched because all but two of the other chickens wer emissing. I found anohter girl who I also had to put down. Her intestines were hanging out of her ripped open chest/stomach. After that I brought out the bag of treats and started shaking it. I quickly found 2 girls who were Houdini and Wieser. I will admit Wieser (the chicken one) is my little baby I had cried pretty hard when I had to put the ohter two girls out of their misery, but when I saw that wieser was okay I fell to the ground shaking and sobbing she came right up to me and I grabbed her and cuddled her and cried and cried…. We put her and Houdini back in the pen and then I kept walking around and trying to find the others… 2 more girls showed up in the yard and we put them away… I was really worried that Gabe the rooster was fataly injured or that he was dead already because his real long tail feathers were all over the yard… We all kept looking and looking and all of a sudden I hear Gabe running out from the trees and the corn field and I screamed that Gabe was okay and started crying all over again... and then we were still missing one more girl Dixie… we looked and looked and looked some more… checking under pine trees… trucks…. In the tops of trees…. In the grass…. And finaly in a spot we had all walked by a couple of times, I caught movement out of the corner of my eye and there was Dixie… she had hidden herself in some tall grass right next to our house…. I started crying again as I picked her up…. She was in really rough shape… and I honestly comtemplated putting her down too…. But her internal organs were still on the inside and the back of her neck was missing skin, but everything else was still intact… upon further evaluation we decided to try to save her. We brought her inside and put her in a small dog kennel and covered it so it was dark and hopefully it would help her with shock… I gave her a half hour to just sit and then I went in and offered water and she drank! That was a sign to me that she wanted to keep on fighting and that she wanted to live. So after I gave her more water and took some pictures of her injuries… we made a run to bombgars we got an antibiotic for her that goes in water and they drink, and we also got some vetrycin…. So fast forward to today, it has been a week from the accident and she is still doing good. She is eating and drinking normally and her wounds are slowly healing, but slow is better than nothing at all!
So we have heard about the losses and now is time for the gains…
I have been looking around for awhile to try to find a hen that is generally broody….. And well I got 2 more hens now! Their names are Shanequia and Liberty…. Shanequia is a black Austorlorp, and Liberty is an Americana…. Shanequia lays brown eggs identical to the rhode island reds while Liberty will (once she starts laying again shes adjusting to her new home) lay blue eggs.
Next up is the other three new girls I got Wednesday… they are 3 Rhode Island Red girls their names are Alice, Emmy, and Zasha….. They have only been here for 2 days and everyone is getting along nicely…
And finally another exciting gain… 2 weeks ago (2 weeks tomorrow) I put 39 eggs in the incubator and quite a few of them are showing development! At least 22 are showing development and I will be happy if at least one hatches! I hope all the ones that show development will hatch. I will go ahead and post some pictures and videos later tonight for you guys!

Yay! AMAZING DAY!!!!
So I am supper excited to let you guys know today has been a super good day! I found out that thankfully my foot is NOT broke!! So we came home cleaned the chicken coop and then we got Romeo out to ride him at home for the first time! He did AMAZING! His canter is VERY smooth and Alex cantered on his own for the first time tonight, and Vironica even cantered him and vironica hasn't cantered much at all before its been about 2 years sense she has cantered because Jack becomes very unpredictable while cantering he likes to slam on the breaks or try to bolt, so she finally cantered and I hope that maybe Romeo can help her build some confidence when it comes to cantering. The most AMAZING part of the night was when my mom came out and got on a horse for the first time in over 16 years.... I will tell you about a conversation my mom and I had awhile back and she said she would never get on any of our horses because she has seen them spook or buck and everything else that they have done, and she does have a point the horses have done that and no horse is 100% safe but she also experienced me blacking out when I fell of Chuck all those years ago, and that sticks with her, that because of Chuck I could have died... and I don't blame her one bit for not getting on a horse, but she did get on Romeo... and I cried, I cried with pure joy that my mom got on a horse with her anxiety and everything she got on, even though she was shaking and scared she got on and she rode... I hope she will continue to ride with us Romeo is such a good horse and he will be great for her to re-gain her confidence. She started with a short ride and Romeo did amazing for her and I couldn't be more happy with him. I will be sure to upload the videos of Vironica and I riding Romeo, sadly I didn't get one of Alex and here is a picture of my mom riding Romeo for you. I can't even put into words how amazing it is to see her on a horse and smiling....

Good Job Olympic Officials!
Two riders have been disqualified in the first round of equestrian Olympics. Nicola Philippaerts was disqualified for excessive use of her spurs after her horse refused a fence twice. She was an individual rider from Belgium. The other rider who rides for the Netherlands, Jur Vireling was disqualified from the individual events after drawing blood by whiping his horse with his crop. He will however compete in the Team Jumping event. Here is the rule they were disqualified with...
Article 242.3.1 of the FEI Jumping Rules reads: Horses bleeding on the flank(s), in the mouth or nose or marks indicating excessive use of spurs or of the whip anywhere on the Horse (in minor cases of blood in the mouth, such as where a Horse appears to have bitten its tongue or lip, Officials may authorize the rinsing or wiping of the mouth and allow the Athlete to continue; any further evidence of blood in the mouth will result in Disqualification.)
So good job to the Olympic officials to keeping true to the rules and pulling these riders out and punishing them. No one should be able to get away with whipping or spurring a horse to the point of bleeding even if you are an Olympic rider....

Park Adventures (Horse Stories Series)
So as some of you know (if you know me personally) my grandmas farm is across the road/bridge from a campground, so during the summer months when I was younger I would ride over to the park from time to time... and if my friends were there we could hang out or they could even hop on and ride behind me... this was back when the DNR didn't get mad about horses being in the campground at all... now they are pretty strict about it. It was always fun for me to tell people about my horse and let them pet Lilly, one time I even brought my friend Jessica back across to the farm for us to hang out and we even have some pictures... One of the coolest sounds in the world is hearing the horses hooves echo as they cross the bridge... it is VERY loud... I remember being fearless back then and now I get nervous crossing that same bridge because the railings are only about 2 feet high and if a car were to blow by then it could go very baddly... we always listen very carefully for any cars possibly comming down the road before we cross.... but those adventures over to the park were always lots of fun.

Horse Stories...
Hey guys, so I thought I would just try to keep you entertained and give readers things to read, so I am going to start just telling you some of my crazy horse stories... riding for almost 18 years gets you quite a few of them... If I do a very short story I may include a couple of them, just to have a decent amount of content ;) It is hard to pick one so I will just keep writing for you guys so I hope you enjoy!
So this is a little graphic for some people but still a very true story and one that is a once in a life time happening....
Flash back to little me who got a horse for their birthday! Super exciting! I was the happiest little girl alive! I went down to the farm to find a 3 year old mare with the name Lilly... I had just gotten the horse of my dreams... and she was a horse that would teach me many lessons and this is a pretty important one, horses can and will get hurt and can and will hurt each-other.... Lilly was let into the lot by the barn with Candy... Candy was a 30+ year old mare at the time, so she was definatly older... Lilly however was not so calm and nice... in the mess of the whole thing Lilly kicked Candy in a very bad spot. This very bad spot was into her vulva.... and Lilly's hoof tore into Candy's vulva.... They were imediatly seperated and Candy was bleeding a lot... the vet wasn't called as we used cold water and cloths to help stop the bleeding... I remember being pretty scared and seeing that much blood was scary to little kid me... Candy ended up being just fine in the end, and they were seperated by a gate for some time after that until they got to know eachother better.... lesson learned, but I don't think that it will ever happen to me again, just bad luck that that was where her hoof went... Here are pictures of Candy (Right) and Lilly (Left) for you guys.

Rant!
Hey guys this is just a little rant and if ya don't care ya don't, but after actually paying attention at cowgirl queen contests I have started to hate them more and more, no not because of oh they are better than me, but because of the style of riding that is promoted and even awarded.... after viewing some of the footage of this years state fair contest I have decided that I'm not sure if I would ever even want to do a queen contest... the most flashy and famous part of the cowgirl queen contest is the salute... where you run as fast as you can around the arena and then at a marked spot salute the crowd and the judges.... I hate to say but half of the girls riding need to take some more lessons on nice hands or train their horses better in the salute portion of the contest... If I saw any of the pictures like I am about to show you that person wouldn't even come close to placing in my book, yet almost every time the winners hurt their poor horses during the salute... and not to mention that almost every single one of these girls rides in a nice huge leverage/curb bit, so these girls slamming their whole body weight into their horses mouths with the leverage bits make me cringe... most of these bits are 3-4 inches at least and the pressure almost doubles with every extra inch so 10 lbs of pressure becomes 30-40 lbs... and you can immagine how quickly that can go supper high!!! So here are the pictures to judge for yourselves... do the horses look like they are having fun? I don't think they do.....
Suprise!
Hey guys! So I have a suprise to tell you about, it has been a posibility sense copper came here but today I finally know for sure. So watch the video to find out!

Good News! and some BAD news
Hey guys! So I have some good news.... I got some more chickens yesterday which brings us up to 10 rhode island red hens and Gabe the rooster... that way I can start breeding without having to worry about gabe overbreeding anyone and then we can have little chicks around again. So another part of the good news which is also related to the bad news is that Copper is finally here! Everything got delayed after his owner (not the kid the dad) got kicked in the leg doing the wild horse race a few weeks back and its still swollen.... and yesterday copper finally got here.... and now to the bad news.... I was walking copper around the outside of the pasture so he could see where the fencelines were, and as I was walking him the other horses kept bothering us and copper was getting a little nervous because I was trying to keep him away from the other horses and the other horses away from him, it was mostly Jet that was being the worst trying to charge up and pawing at him.... in this whole crazy moment copper stepped on my left foot... I called my mom and told her to send someone out to help me control the other horses.... and nick came out and I was crying cause I was mad and frustraited and my foot hurt... I had him hold onto copper because the other horses had ran off... and I looked at my foot and it was a little bruised so I thought it was okay, so I finished walking him all the way around the pasture (i had only gotten like 100 feet into it...) and then I worked with him for just a short little bit and then let him loose for them to go and get it sorted out which was just Jet chasing copper around for about 15 minutes and then they made nice..... So I went inside and took some aleve and iced it and sense I knew it was bad enough to not be able to go to work I was going to go to church with my grandma.... anyways we got there and I was still able to walk on it as long as I didn't bend my foot,.. when I changed into my PJs I must have messed something up because all of a sudden I couldn't put weight on it without crying from pain... and for those of you who know me and those who don't I have a very high pain tollerance... I tore both of the tendons in my ankle and didn't cry until the next day... broke my foot twice and then went to tumbling for over 2 hours, and this was very painful and then my foot just started swelling like crazy... it was like someone has put a waterabloon under my skin.... so we made a trip to the ER and we got there at 11 and didn't get there until a little bit after one... and the drs are not 100% sure because its harder to see broken bones when everything is all swollen, but the ER doctor is pretty sure its broken... so I am non weight bearing and in a boot for the next week until I go back to the drs... ill post some pictures and stuff later today for you guys so ya... hopefully the Dr was wrong!

Update
Hey guys, so I know I haven't posted in such a long time... I have been pretty busy with work and summer trip and taking care of animals. I think I will save posting for next week as I am not working, but I figured I would let you guys know that I still existed.... I got some really bad rashes on my arms... my arms are covered in lots of small blisters that keep popping and oozing, so I had to go to the dr. the first day I had a rash and my tounge started swelling but not bad enough that I had to go to the hospital.... I will post some pictures of that when I do a longer post... and then after 2 and a half days of the rash not healing up at all I went to the dr and they gave me some medications that should help clear it all up. So hopefully that helps... it hurts at work when it gets rubbed on anything....
Anyways so look back for posts next week... I am slowly uploading videos to youtube... my phone dislikes youtube a lot I can upload some videos but for some reason not others.... I have tried 7 times to upload a video of the horses playing in a stream at brushy creek, but it will get almost 80% done and then not upload anymore.... Anyways blog ya next week!

Update!
Hey guys, so just a little update, so last night after moving the parade float to my house to keep for this mornings parade I finally got to use my trailer! I was VERY nervous pulling the horses because they are live animals... I have pulled trailers before but not very much and I have only pulled my trailer once before last night and that was to bring it home from my grandmas last year! Anyways I forgot to show you guys awhile back what it looks like now that its all painted and finished.
Anyways I pulled Chuck and Jet to Brushy... We got there tacked up and got on.... we rode around the campground for a bit looking for my dad until we found him, then we stopped and talked for a little bit. I led one of my dads friends kids around on Chuck she really liked that. Apparently her mother has been looking for a place for her to take lessons, so I of course recomended High Bridge, so maybe they will have a new rider there soon. The girls little sister (probably 2 or 3) really wanted to ride with her sister, but was scared of the horse it was cute she would reach out and up towards her sister who was sitting on chuck but then when her mom moved her she would scream and cry.... it was kind of cute haha... anyways we were standing there and talking and Jet got a little study... aka "hanging out and "smaking" himself" so I lunged him a little bit to take his mind off of it... we havn't lunged much lately... he was doing good and then decided to kick up turn and do a small rear... so a smack in the neck with the rope and some backing fixed that and he gave me a nice trot and even backed and came in with just slight cues.... then he just fine if not really good after that... we even showed off our little "party trick" to my dad and all his friends..... My dads friend James was really impressed.... he asked me what I was planning on doing for schooling... he went to the same school I am thinking about getting my animal science degree from and he really liked it. He told me how talented I was and that I should definatly keep at it and I thanked him... Working and being around horses is something I love doing and I sure will keep at it as long as I can. I will have some videos up on Monday I think of our brushy trip and lots more too so be sure to keep tuned for that, I will also do an update about what I spent today doing, but I think I will save that for tomorrow or Monday we will see, but thats it for now... thanks for reading!!!

Equestrian Terms
Hey guys! I know I haven't done many informational/training posts or videos lately so for those of you who are new to horses or just want to expand your vocabulary here are some terms myself and other equestrians are likely to use. I kind of tried to put them in alphabetical order but some of them may be switched around.
Aids or Cues: Signals or cues by which the rider communicates their wishes to the horse. The "natural" aids include the voice, the legs, the hands and the weight. "Artifical" aids include the whip and spurs.
At Liberty: At liberty work is work done with a horse without any physical restrictions like halters and lead ropes. This should not be confused with round pen work where a horse is in a small space and has no choice to be with the trainer. It should be done in a large space where if the horse chose they could run away otherwise its round pen work.
Bald-Faced: US term used to describe a horse with a predominantly white face.
Barn Sour or Buddy Sour: Horse that objects to being ridden away from the barn or herd bound horses that object to leaving their pasture mates.
Bit: Mouthpiece, of made of metal but may be made of rubber or other man made material and held in place by the bridle, by which the rider conveys instructions to the horse.
Bosal: A braided noseband or a Western bitless bridle.
Breaking, or Breaking-In: The early education of a horse, where it is taught the skills it will for riding or driving.
Bridle: Item of equipment worn on the horse's head, which lets the rider to communicate his or her wishes through use of the bit and the reins.
Buck: A leap in the air with the head lowered and the back arched. (can be confused with crow hopping)
Castration or Gelding: In this case the act of removing the testicles of a male horse.
Crow hopping: When a horse hops or leaps repeatedly in the air, with all four feet off the ground at the same time.
Canter or Lope: Three beated gait of the horDouble Bridle: Traditional English bridle with two bits (snaffle and curb) giving the rider a greater degree of control than a single bit.se in which one hind leg strides first, followed by the opposite diagonal pair and finally the opposite foreleg in western terms this is called a Lope
Colt: Uncastrated male horse up to four years of age
Dam: A horse's female parent.
Diagonals: The horses legs move in pairs at the trot, called diagonals. The left diagonal is when the left foreleg and right hindleg move, the right diagonal is when the right foreleg and the left hindleg move. When on a circle, the rider rises as the outside foreleg moves forward.
Double Bridle: Traditional English bridle with two bits (snaffle and curb) giving the rider a greater degree of control than a single bit. (FOR PROFESSIONALS ONLY)
Farrier: Skilled craftsman who trims horses hooves, or shoes them.
Foal: Colt, filly or gelding up to one year of age.
Frog: Triangular, rubber pad on the sole of the foot which acts as a shock absorber. (this is prevented when wearing shoes)
Gait: The paces at which horses move, usually the walk, trot, canter and gallop.
Gallop: Four-beated gait of the horse, in which each foot touches the ground separately, as opposed to the canter, which is a three-beat gait.
Gelding: Castrated male horse.
Girth or Cinch: A strap by which an English saddle is secured to the horse, which attaches to the saddle on one side, running under the barrel just behind the legs to the other side. Called a cinch in Western Riding.
Grade: Term used to describe an horse that is not registered with any breed association.
Greenbroke: Horse that has been accustomed to the tack and the rider and has begun initial training.
Hand: Unit of measure used to describe a horse. One hand equals 4 inches, partial measurements being described as 14.1, 14.2, 14.3.
Irons or Stirrups: The metal pieces attached to the saddle by means of leather straps in which the rider places his or her feet. May be made out of wood and covered in leather in western riding.
Lead: Term used to indicate the horse's leading leg in canter i.e. "right lead canter" or "left lead canter".
Longe or Lunge: The act of training a horse by working it in the various paces on a circle using a long longe or lunge rein.
Mare: Female horse aged four and over.
Pony: A small horse, standing 14.2 or less
Posting Trot or Rising Trot: The action of the rider rising from the saddle in rhythm with the horse's trot.
Round Penning: Round penning is doing ground work or training with a horse in a smaller pen usually about 60 feet in diameter. The horse can be worked on or off a line but still does not really have an option to leave the trainer. Hello!
Hello everyone! Sorry I havn't posted in sooooo long. I have had a very busy start to the summer. I have worked some, baby sat, and done quite a bit with the chickens and the ducks. I also have a possible buisness trade... if you guys have followed my blogs for some time, then you may remember Copper the horse. His owner would like me to work with him so he can sell him. I was going to ask for cash, but he is the one who butchers our chickens so I decided that in exchange for training he could butcher our next group of chickens for free. I just got 100+ more chicks, my counting may have been off buy 10 but not more than that and I counted 119 live chicks when I took them out of the box, and 1 died during shipping. Sense then two more chicks have died, one I didn't know if it was going to make it because it had a bum leg... it could get around to eat but I guess he wasn't strong enough. The other one died from pasty butt. Anyways thats it for now, I have been slacking on my blog, but my youtube channel is always being updated, so if you want to be more current go there!

Update!
Hey guys! So I figured I would give you another short update, anyways my ankle is healing pretty good, I am doing pretty good. School is almost out, only one more day, I hope to ride for a little bit tomorrow, I don't think we will be taking the horses anywhere soon because I won't be able to ride much to get them into shape, and then Nick has annual training for about 2 and a half weeks, he is working werid hours for them from 1pm to 1am and he obviously won't be able to do much with us. Anyways thats kind of it for now, not to much else to update, I hope to ride here soon like I said hopefully tomorrow (fingers crossed).

Hey!!
Hey guys, I know it has been so long sense I have updated! I have been busy and stressed and making some pretty big decisions... Things are finally quieting down and looking up though! So last time you heard from me was the day after my surgery, and I have progressed a lot sense then, so I went back to the Drs a week later and got that splint/cast off, then I got a walking boot and was not able to put weight on it for another 2 weeks when I went back, when I went back they took my stitches out and I started walking with the walking boot, and now another 2 weeks later, I am walking without my boot and I am back to just a brace! Here are some pics from all that!
So like I said, I have made some big decisions, I decided to drop band for next year, and I have decided that I will be taking classes to become an EMT in the fall, and I have even been accepted to one of the two colleges I would like to go to, (havn't applied for the other one yet haha)!!!
Things are starting to look up, I will be able to get back on a horse next Monday if I want (just a walk though nothing crazy yet haha) and that I can start slowly getting back to work!!! My chicken buisness has also been going well, I think the next batch of chickens we get is going to be pretty large and it may be our second to last batch before winter hits, I am super excited for summer to start. I am going to get a loan to buy a new vehicle, my current truck is technically my dads and I need something of my own. I also have a full class schedual for next year for the most part, after next year I will have taken all but one Agricultural class in my school and that is crop science, it is a new class for next year that will be taught by a diffrent teacher other than our Advisor Mr. Olson, so I can say I will/will have taken all of Mr. Olsons classes. Speaking of Mr. Olson and FFA we also had our FFA banquet, I got my first choice of office again this year which is vice president, I don't like to be in the spotlight, I like to do all the hard work behind the scenes, ya people may not see it or acknowlege it but that doesn't mean its not worthy :) we are mixing it up with 3 vice presidents this year, with each VP heading one of the 3 overall committees, Community, Chapter, and Student. I also won 3 SAEs I won Equine Entrepenureship, Swine Placement, and Diversified Livestock (cant remember if entrepenureship or placement), It was a very sucessful banquet, and I can't believe that this will be my 4th year as a FFA member and my 3rd officer position!!! Anyways, I hope to be blogging more as school winds down and I have time afterwork, also one more side note my horse trailer is almost done, it just needs to be painted, the front window put back on, and the one tire put back on and it will be ready!!! Anyways here is a picture of what I got in the mail today!
