Yay! AMAZING DAY!!!!

So I am supper excited to let you guys know today has been a super good day! I found out that thankfully my foot is NOT broke!! So we came home cleaned the chicken coop and then we got Romeo out to ride him at home for the first time! He did AMAZING! His canter is VERY smooth and Alex cantered on his own for the first time tonight, and Vironica even cantered him and vironica hasn't cantered much at all before its been about 2 years sense she has cantered because Jack becomes very unpredictable while cantering he likes to slam on the breaks or try to bolt, so she finally cantered and I hope that maybe Romeo can help her build some confidence when it comes to cantering. The most AMAZING part of the night was when my mom came out and got on a horse for the first time in over 16 years.... I will tell you about a conversation my mom and I had awhile back and she said she would never get on any of our horses because she has seen them spook or buck and everything else that they have done, and she does have a point the horses have done that and no horse is 100% safe but she also experienced me blacking out when I fell of Chuck all those years ago, and that sticks with her, that because of Chuck I could have died... and I don't blame her one bit for not getting on a horse, but she did get on Romeo... and I cried, I cried with pure joy that my mom got on a horse with her anxiety and everything she got on, even though she was shaking and scared she got on and she rode...  I hope she will continue to ride with us Romeo is such a good horse and he will be great for her to re-gain her confidence. She started with a short ride and Romeo did amazing for her and I couldn't be more happy with him. I will be sure to upload the videos of Vironica and I riding Romeo, sadly I didn't get one of Alex and here is a picture of my mom riding Romeo for you. I can't even put into words how amazing it is to see her on a horse and smiling....

Good Job Olympic Officials!

Two riders have been disqualified in the first round of equestrian Olympics. Nicola Philippaerts was disqualified for excessive use of her spurs after her horse refused a fence twice. She was an individual rider from Belgium. The other rider who rides for the Netherlands, Jur Vireling was disqualified from the individual events after drawing blood by whiping his horse with his crop. He will however compete in the Team Jumping event. Here is the rule they were disqualified with...

Article 242.3.1 of the FEI Jumping Rules reads: Horses bleeding on the flank(s), in the mouth or nose or marks indicating excessive use of spurs or of the whip anywhere on the Horse (in minor cases of blood in the mouth, such as where a Horse appears to have bitten its tongue or lip, Officials may authorize the rinsing or wiping of the mouth and allow the Athlete to continue; any further evidence of blood in the mouth will result in Disqualification.)

So good job to the Olympic officials to keeping true to the rules and pulling these riders out and punishing them. No one should be able to get away with whipping or spurring a horse to the point of bleeding even if you are an Olympic rider....

Park Adventures (Horse Stories Series)

So as some of you know (if you know me personally) my grandmas farm is across the road/bridge from a campground, so during the summer months when I was younger I would ride over to the park from time to time... and if my friends were there we could hang out or they could even hop on and ride behind me... this was back when the DNR didn't get mad about horses being in the campground at all... now they are pretty strict about it. It was always fun for me to tell people about my horse and let them pet Lilly, one time I even brought my friend Jessica back across to the farm for us to hang out and we even have some pictures... One of the coolest sounds in the world is hearing the horses hooves echo as they cross the bridge... it is VERY loud... I remember being fearless back then and now I get nervous crossing that same bridge because the railings are only about 2 feet high and if a car were to blow by then it could go very baddly... we always listen very carefully for any cars possibly comming down the road before we cross.... but those adventures over to the park were always lots of fun.

Horse Stories...

Hey guys, so I thought I would just try to keep you entertained and give readers things to read, so I am going to start just telling you some of my crazy horse stories... riding for almost 18 years gets you quite a few of them...  If I do a very short story I may include a couple of them, just to have a decent amount of content ;) It is hard to pick one so I will just keep writing for you guys so I hope you enjoy!

So this is a little graphic for some people but still a very true story and one that is a once in a life time happening....

Flash back to little me who got a horse for their birthday! Super exciting! I was the happiest little girl alive! I went down to the farm to find a 3 year old mare with the name Lilly... I had just gotten the horse of my dreams... and she was a horse that would teach me many lessons and this is a pretty important one, horses can and will get hurt and can and will hurt each-other.... Lilly was let into the lot by the barn with Candy... Candy was a 30+ year old mare at the time, so she was definatly older... Lilly however was not so calm and nice... in the mess of the whole thing Lilly kicked Candy in a very bad spot. This very bad spot was into her vulva.... and Lilly's hoof tore into Candy's vulva.... They were imediatly seperated and Candy was bleeding a lot... the vet wasn't called as we used cold water and cloths to help stop the bleeding... I remember being pretty scared and seeing that much blood was scary to little kid me... Candy ended up being just fine in the end, and they were seperated by a gate for some time after that until they got to know eachother better.... lesson learned, but I don't think that it will ever happen to me again, just bad luck that that was where her hoof went... Here are pictures of Candy (Right) and Lilly (Left) for you guys.

Rant!

Hey guys this is just a little rant and if ya don't care ya don't, but after actually paying attention at cowgirl queen contests I have started to hate them more and more, no not because of oh they are better than me, but because of the style of riding that is promoted and even awarded.... after viewing some of the footage of this years state fair contest I have decided that I'm not sure if I would ever even want to do a queen contest... the most flashy and famous part of the cowgirl queen contest is the salute... where you run as fast as you can around the arena and then at a marked spot salute the crowd and the judges.... I hate to say but half of the girls riding need to take some more lessons on nice hands or train their horses better in the salute portion of the contest... If I saw any of the pictures like I am about to show you that person wouldn't even come close to placing in my book, yet almost every time the winners hurt their poor horses during the salute... and not to mention that almost every single one of these girls rides in a nice huge leverage/curb bit, so these girls slamming their whole body weight into their horses mouths with the leverage bits make me cringe... most of these bits are 3-4 inches at least and the pressure almost doubles with every extra inch so 10 lbs of pressure becomes 30-40 lbs... and you can immagine how quickly that can go supper high!!! So here are the pictures to judge for yourselves... do the horses look like they are having fun? I don't think they do.....

Suprise!

Hey guys! So I have a suprise to tell you about, it has been a posibility sense copper came here but today I finally know for sure. So watch the video to find out!

Pictures!

Hey guys sorry I didn't get the pictures up yet, but here they are....

The bumpy reaction that I got on my arm from handling the goats... its been there for over a week now and is very slowly getting better....
This is a picture of all the girls eating this morning... they are all getting along really nicely already!

We also banded the new girls this morning that way we can tell who is who!

Here is a picture of copper that we took... Hes quite a looker...
Another picture of copper...

And another....

And the last one.....

This is what my foot looked like when I went into the house to ice it... I didn't think anything was to terribly wrong with it at that time.....
This photo sorta shows the swelling that was going on it got to the point where it just looked like someone put a waterballoon under my skin

These two pictures above and below show some of the brusing that is going on in my foot... its still spreading out on my foot even today... the whole entire top of my foot is a grenish color and it looks werid...

And I figured we would end with some cute pictures... the one I am holding is Ginger and the one Nick is holding is Fred.... sadly Fred passed away a few days after this picture due to an unknown problem, and then we bought Lemon just as soon as we could because poor Ginger was lonely...

Just a cute picture of  Lemon him and Ginger were not very good friends at first, but now they are best buddies!

Good News! and some BAD news

Hey guys! So I have some good news.... I got some more chickens yesterday which brings us up to 10 rhode island red hens and Gabe the rooster... that way I can start breeding without having to worry about gabe overbreeding anyone and then we can have little chicks around again. So another part of the good news which is also related to the bad news is that Copper is finally here! Everything got delayed after his owner (not the kid the dad) got kicked in the leg doing the wild horse race a few weeks back and its still swollen.... and yesterday copper finally got here.... and now to the bad news.... I was walking copper around the outside of the pasture so he could see where the fencelines were, and as I was walking him the other horses kept bothering us and copper was getting a little nervous because I was trying to keep him away from the other horses and the other horses away from him, it was mostly Jet that was being the worst trying to charge up and pawing at him.... in this whole crazy moment copper stepped on my left foot... I called my mom and told her to send someone out to help me control the other horses.... and nick came out and I was crying cause I was mad and frustraited and my foot hurt... I had him hold onto copper because the other horses had ran off... and I looked at my foot and it was a little bruised so I thought it was okay, so I finished walking him all the way around the pasture (i had only gotten like 100 feet into it...) and then I worked with him for just a short little bit and then let him loose for them to go and get it sorted out which was just Jet chasing copper around for about 15 minutes and then they made nice..... So I went inside and took some aleve and iced it and sense I knew it was bad enough to not be able to go to work I was going to go to church with my grandma.... anyways we got there and I was still able to walk on it as long as I didn't bend my foot,.. when I changed into my PJs I must have messed something up because all of a sudden I couldn't put weight on it without crying from pain... and for those of you who know me and those who don't  I have a very high pain tollerance... I tore both of the tendons in my ankle and didn't cry until the next day... broke my foot twice and then went to tumbling for over 2 hours, and this was very painful and then my foot just started swelling like crazy... it was like someone has put a waterabloon under my skin.... so we made a trip to the ER and we got there at 11 and didn't get there until a little bit after one... and the drs are not 100% sure because its harder to see broken bones when everything is all swollen, but the ER doctor is pretty sure its broken... so I am non weight bearing and in a boot for the next week until I go back to the drs... ill post some pictures and stuff later today for you guys so ya... hopefully the Dr was wrong!

Update

Hey guys, so I know I haven't posted in such a long time... I have been pretty busy with work and summer trip and taking care of animals. I think I will save posting for next week as I am not working, but I figured I would let you guys know that I still existed.... I got some really bad rashes on my arms... my arms are covered in lots of small blisters that keep popping and oozing, so I had to go to the dr. the first day I had a rash and my tounge started swelling but not bad enough that I had to go to the hospital.... I will post some pictures of that when I do a longer post... and then after 2 and a half days of the rash not healing up at all I went to the dr and they gave me some medications that should help clear it all up. So hopefully that helps... it hurts at work when it gets rubbed on anything....

Anyways so look back for posts next week... I am slowly uploading videos to youtube... my phone dislikes youtube a lot I can upload some videos but for some reason not others.... I have tried 7 times to upload a video of the horses playing in a stream at brushy creek, but it will get almost 80% done and then not upload anymore.... Anyways blog ya next week!
